When many homeowners think of home, they envision warmth, safety and family. But a lot of homeowners don’t consider the energy efficiency of their home as part of that vision. TCS Insulation Contractor & Coatings works to help homeowners realize their home vision by transforming their homes into quiet, cozy spaces with state-of-the-art energy saving insulation products.
Spray foam Batt insulation , also called polyurethane spray or SPF, is a chemical product comprised of two materials: isocyanate and polyol resin. When these components are combined and sprayed in place, they create pockets that can expand up to 30-60 times their liquid volume, filling the small nooks and crannies of roof tiles or concrete slabs, wall cavities and holes drilled into walls. It can also be sprayed onto surfaces such as windows, doors and electrical wiring to insulate them and reduce noise.
Open-cell and closed-cell foam are the two types of spray insulation available for commercial or residential properties. Open-cell foam is softer than closed-cell and provides greater flexibility and adaptability for tight spaces, while close-cell foam is more rigid and offers better resistance to moisture.
Why Spray Foam Insulation is the Best Choice for Your Home
The biggest benefit of spray foam is its air sealing capability, which creates a custom airtight envelope within the structure of your home. It prevents warm air from escaping during the winter and cool air from leaking during the summer, keeping your house at a comfortable temperature without your HVAC system having to work as hard.
Another benefit of spray foam is that it’s non-toxic, mold-resistant and fire-retardant. It also doesn’t contain any fiberglass fragments that could be ingested by children or pets, and it’s safe for use around plants. However, the blowing agent used in spray foam has a high global warming potential, but many manufacturers have now started using low GWP blowing agents for their spray insulation.
