Preserving A Picturesque America, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and protecting natural sites and places, is hosting a special art exhibition in Asheville, NC. The show will feature original artwork by several local and regional artists. All proceeds from the art sale will benefit the Friends of Chimney Rock State Park and the Carolina Climbers Coalition.
Chimney Rock is an outdoor wonderland located in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It is believed to be over 535 million years old. This huge, Easter Island-like monolith is a vertical landscape that is both beautiful and awe-inspiring. Visitors can hike up a 499-step trail to the top of the monolith, which features a 404-foot waterfall. At the summit, they can view 75 miles of mountainous views.
The outcroppings of Chimney Rock are a unique feature of the park. These rock formations have unusual features such as cracks, splits, and overhangs. They also provide many opportunities for learning about the local flora and fauna.
In addition to hiking trails, Chimney Rock State Park offers interpretive exhibits and gift shops. There are plenty of scenic overlooks with breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. If you’re interested in a guided family hike, you can plan to start at 12:30 p.m.
Chimney Rock State Park is a popular destination. Not only does it offer a view of Lake Lure, but it offers a vertical landscape with several hiking trails. There is also a 404-foot waterfall, making it an ideal spot for a weekend trip. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or an alumnus, there are plenty of things to do.
During the summer, there are a variety of events held at the park. You can enjoy a day of sightseeing, learning, and fun. There are also a range of special events that are held throughout the year. During the months of February and March, the park hosts a Kids Club on $8 per child. During that time, children are given activities such as nature programs and shadow-sighting.
This fall, the artists of Preserving A Picturesque America will organize a special art exhibition. Three collections of artwork will be on display for two weeks. Each collection will feature a different piece of art, which will be available for purchase. Some of the proceeds will be donated to the Friends of Chimney Rock State Park, the Carolina Climbers Coalition, and other organizations devoted to preserving natural landmarks.
The artists who created the paintings will attend a special artist reception. During the event, they will be available to answer questions. While there, you can purchase a limited edition watercolor painting of Chimney Rock, which will benefit the Friends of Chimney Rock. Throughout the exhibition, visitors can browse the exhibits and see works by more than 30 regional and local artists.
Artworks will be on display at various locations in Asheville, including the Wedge at Foundation’s Cloud Room. Visit the website for more information. Most events are free, but some do require pre-registration.
